[REVIEW] Tomica Lancia Stratos Turbo

Tomica time is here again, this can also be Spaghetti Sunday. As this is the last Tomica review before Christmas, the green and red livery also fits. Today we examine a Tomica casting of an Italian car - something not seen for awhile. This is Tomica F66-1, the Lancia Stratos Turbo. This model entered the range in October, 1978, and is everything one would expect from Tomica of this era:

Tomica must have had a thing for the Stratos - there were 3 different casts of this car. Between these, there are over 30 varieties listed in my reference book. This is the Alitalia variant of the widebody turbo - the other castings aren’t as wild. This livery appears to be based on an actual Group 5 rally competitor of the era. Scale is a claimed 1:62, likely accurate. This model doesn’t have opening doors, but still features a lot of casting detail, a detailed interior, along with the springy suspension and crisp glazing we expect from the brand:

Front and rear have similar detail. If you like tampos, this is a car for you:

The base is plastic, as typical for the era, and has a lot of detail, showing off the widebody goodness:

This model is lucky enough to live in its original box. The original owner applied the decals, but kept the sheet, now a fun artifact:

This is a cool and interesting cast that I am happy to have in my collection. As I also have yet to find other varieties that I want to purchase, this widebody is the only Tomica Stratos in my hoard (I have another identical one). It’s not too rare, but has some demand behind it, as the real car is a legend:
