[REVIEW] Tomica Nissan Skyline 2000GT-X

It’s Tomica time again, also Land of the Rising Sun-day and all that. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year than by admiring another lovely old Tomica. Today we examine Tomica 82-1, the Nissan Skyline (C110) 2000GT-X. This casting entered the range in August 1974, and is an excellent example of Tomica quality:

This Kenmeri is an excellent cast. Scale is a claimed 1:64, and as usual, likely accurate. The cast has ample fine detail, the cast-in model badges on the rear fenders being a nice touch. The color is very period-correct, and suits the model well. Of course, this model features the springy suspension, crisp glazing, and snappy door action we know and love from Tomica. From all angles, this is a beauty:

This is a little jewel of a casting, reminding me of the Silvia I reviewed earlier. I am definitely happy to have this in my collection - even better as I recall I found it in a lucky ebay BIN a couple years ago for something like $25. Castings like this are why Tomica is admired today:
