Surprise Saturday - 1:18s on a bookshelf

It’s time for something different yet again. This won’t be a review, just a quick snap. I don’t have many 1:18s, and have yet to review one, but I do have a few:

Slightly different angle - it’s in kind of a nook and not easy to get close to without casting a shadow:

From L to R:

Revell W112 300SE fintail. I purchased this new in 1996. It has sat on a shelf for a long time, and isn’t mint.

Kyosho Supra. I purchased this in 1994. This appears to now be a collectible worth more than its original $49 price. I have the original box, but the model sat on my desk at my old office for years, and suffered a calamity - it rolled off the desk, breaking two wheels loose. It is complete, and I have yet to repair it. It is also dusty inside.

Bburago Lamborghini Diablo. I purchased this new in 1991-92. I was getting out of collecting by this point, but bought this on impulse as it was inexpensive, and I liked the 1:1 car. This was still an era where Bburago was a leader in affordable diecast, and although the detail seems crude now, it was very good for the era.

Solido Citroen 2CV. This was a Christmas gift from my mom, in 1994 or 95. It was new then. It is dusty and missing a few small things (like the bumper overriders). I performed some superdetailing on this, and the others as well.

Maybe someday, these will appear as surprise reviews. I wish I had taken better care of the Supra, but too late now, no use in fretting about it. I also think I have a few 1:18s still at my mom’s house, but I fear they are in poor condition now, if they haven’t been given away.

Bonus: one can see a Back to the Future soundtrack LP I found at a thrift shop ages ago which makes a cool background item, and some overflow from my library (us traditionalists have paper books, and still prefer them).

That is all.
