[REVIEW] Tomica Lamborghini Miura SV

Tomica time is here again. Today we examine something not seen for awhile, a Tomica model of an Italian car. This makes it both Spaghetti Sunday and Land of the Rising Sun-day. This is Tomica F40-1, the Lamborghini Miura SV. This casting entered the range in November, 1977, and is a lovely example of Tomica quality:

This casting has wonderful luminous almost iridescent paint, which reminds me of an earlier redline era HW. My Tomica reference book calls it “metallic violet”. The gold button wheels complement this paint, and the well-executed tampo. Jobjoris spotted this in the preview post, and I thought I would post it early in the run. Scale is claimed to be 1:62, likely accurate, and the casting has plenty of fine detail. This model features the snappy door action, crisp glazing, and springy suspension we all know and love about Tomica. From all angles, it is a pretty model:

Doors open to reveal an accurate steering wheel, and realistically contoured seats:

Front and rear have the same high level of detail. The cast-in model badges at rear are a quality touch:

The base is plastic, which was becoming a regular feature at the time, and has ample detail:

Definitely a model I am glad to have in my collection. I acquired it from a local collector who was thinning out his hoard. When I saw the paint color, I just had to have it:
