My next entrant for LaLD ///May is slightly less obscure. This is Siku 1035, the BMW 633 CSi (E24). This casting was in the range from 1978-89, and couldn’t be more of a period piece:
(I originally posted all these on Sunday, not realizing this is a week long event. oops!)
The sharknose E24 is a 70s-80s icon, and this surely looks the part in a bright gold/green color with red interior. Like most Siku, the casting is a mix of fine detail and sometimes slightly odd proportions, but this one gets it right more than others. Scale is claimed to be 1:55, I feel this claim may be a little large, it doesn’t feel larger than a 1:60-ish model. No matter, you know what you are getting into with this:
Doors open to reveal an interior with accurately contoured seats, and these apparently exist with a 3 spoke steering wheel:
Front and rear have similar detail:
The base is plastic, with ample technical and identifying detail, and a cool feature of Siku of the era - technical and performance specs:
This is a blast from the past I am pleased to have in my collection. I like Siku of the 70s and 80s, with their unique wheels and detailing. It’s an eye catcher:
And 1:1s from wikipedia and hagerty.com:
