I was thinking I had nothing to offer for LaLeMans - I don’t have a ton of racing cars, and those I have don’t appear to be LeMans-related. Then I remember I have some Jaaaags with a good history:
Some may remember these castings, I have reviewed them in the past, and am using the same images, as I just remembered these fit in, and I am not re-shooting them. The D-Type won LeMans in 1955-1956-1957, it is as significant as any car associated with the races. Lesney had two variants of the D-Type in the Matchbox lineup, Matchbox 41a and 41b. These are size variants of the same car, 41a being 55mm, 41b being 62mm. 41a was in the range from 1957-60, 41b was in the range from 1960-65. Both have decal number variations which are rare. These also have wheel variations, with metal and grey plastic wheels on 41a, and grey plastic along with lovely wire wheels and red hub wheels on 42b - the latter two being quite desirable. These have remained quite popular castings, and are full of the charm associated with Matchbox models of the era. Without further ado, the models - first, 41a:
And 41b:
As usual, a couple of 1:1s (as if we don’t know what these look like) from howstuffworks.com and themonsieur.com:
