Radcast 2018: Hot Wheels Mercedes-Benz 380 SEL Real Riders

My third submission to Radcast is something different, a Hot Wheels. This is the Hot Wheels 380SEL with Real Riders. This vatiant was introduced around 1983, and is a representation of the 80s in a few ways:

I don’t have many HWs, but this one was hard to pass up. I had a couple examples of this casting when I was a kid, and always enjoyed it - I like the real world car, and the dog in the back is a fun touch. The W126 is the definitive 80s MB, and Real Riders are a very 80s HW feature. Some HW castings can be iffy, but this one is pretty good, with decent proportions and good detail. Siku also had a decent W126, this is comparable if not maybe even of better proportions. Nothing opens, but the model still has appeal for its nice finish, and the interior has accurate seats and dashboard/steering wheel. I estimate scale to be around 1:65, maybe marginally smaller - this is a big car, but not a huge casting. The Real Riders on slotted wheels have a unique presence somehow amusing on a car like this. From all angles, this looks like a bahnstormer with 80s attitude:

Front and rear have similar detail, with the discernable Euro lights and wipers being a nice touch:

The base is metal, with typical period HW detail and data, and also shows off the tire tread:

I am happy to have this casting - I like the 1:1, and this casting has some memories for me. I think this might be one of the less common Real Riders:
