Radcast 2018: Tomica Toyota Celica XX 2800 GT

We have arrived at my final entrant for Radcast. This is Tomica 33-4, the Toyota Celica XX 2800 GT. This casting entered the range in April 1982, remaining until May 1986, and is a nice piece of wedgy 80s goodness:

With the paint scheme and gold wheels, this really screams 80s. This model was known as the Supra in most other areas, and was a competent GT car of the era. HW and Matchbox also had Supras of this generation, but this might be the finer model. Tomica did a commendable job modeling this car, with ample fine line casting detail and nice proportion. Scale is claimed to be 1:64, likely accurate. There is springy suspension, crisp glazing, and snappy door action as we expect and enjoy. This is a piece from the “sunroof era”, and this feature adds extra realism. From all angles, it couldn’t be more 80s:

I am pleased to have this in my collection. I enjoy the real car, and this casting is a quality item. It exists in blue with wide wheels per my reference book, but I have never seen that variant for sale - one to watch for:
