Decisions decisions. With a three decade span for this event day, and many period models for me to choose, it was not easy to pick just one. As Matchbox decided to make a tribute model for this casting and I had yet to represent the brand for this event (this also fits in with my weekly review), I chose this - Matchbox 34a, the VW T2 van, which entered the range in 1957. Simply a classic:
There is endless period charm, with the vibrant but gentle color, the crisp tampo, and the vehicle itself. If one was to hop in it and it had a radio, it would probably play something like Buddy Holly, and you’d take your time going anywhere. A timeless model that is a must in any collection of early Lesney Regular Wheels castings:
