I have a love hate relationship with Mitsubishi. The best car I ever owned was a Mitsubishi Starion and I credit that car with bringing out the true car guy in me. All of the toils and troubles of car ownership were somehow diminished by the feelings that car gave me. It’s a feeling I find myself chasing now that I no longer have the car.

I also credit Mitsubishi with my unhealthy obsession with Jackie Chan. Action, humor and cars just fit my personality so naturally I have blinders on when it comes to his Mitsubishi filled films as well. Who Am I has an awesome chase scene featuring an evo 4 like this. Worth the watch if only because the oranges from the fruit stand it hits at the beginning actually stay lodged onto the car till the very end.

My hate for Mitsu is more with the owners they attract. The Evo’s and wide body Starions seem to attract some of the worst bro-types in North America... at least on forums and here in California. There were may times I had to ask myself how such awesome cars appealed to such rude frat types. It made seeking help with my car extremely difficult and I’m still a bit bewildered about that. It’s taken a while but I have found a few kind heated genuine Mitsubishi enthusiasts.

I think there is some recycling going on with these two. The passing of the Evo is sad but Mitsubishi really should have upped their game when it became obvious the Korean’s could now offer more than just awesome warranties on bland cars. However you feel about Mitsubishi they are a bit of an underdog. Who doesn’t like an underdog story?
