Maisto Design Tow & Go Mercedes-Benz G Class and car trailer.

Maisto does tend to be an overlooked brand, however, I think for the most part, the Design series is decent. I was not expecting to find this at Wal-Mart, but I did. My local Wal-Mart had multiples of these Tow & Go, but, no singles. Anyway, let’s take a look at this:

Well, so you got your Mercedes SUV and a car transporter. The attachment method is very simple, and there’s no jack like you’ll see in Greenlight’s Hitch & Tow series:

While the big hitch on the back does look off, the hitch is screwed in place, so it’s probably not going to break off. So, for kids, this would be pretty durable. Do note it looks like they used a long screw to attach both the base and the hitch, so, if you do want to remove the hitch, you may need a shorter screw to keep the base attached without the hitch.

Let’s look at the Mercedes-Benz G Class by itself. It’s a pretty well done model. I like it.

And the trailer:

So, what’s the scale for this? I have heard that these Maisto Design models are bigger than 1/64, however, for this one, it seems to be on par with Hot Wheels, Matchbox, etc. Which would also imply other SUVs and trucks from this line are pretty close as well. I pulled out some other models for a comparison:

And yes, the trailer door does open and you can put a car inside. However, it’s best not to roll it too fast or hard when a car is inside, because the car will bump the door, causing it to open. Don’t want your car falling out! It’s probably more so intended for other Maisto models from the Design or All-Stars series, but, it does work with other brands.

So, all in all, I think the only downside to this is the big hitch, but aside from that, it’s pretty decent. Costs about $8 at Wal-Mart, which might be a bit steep for some, but it’s not too bad. Quality is decent as well, and like I said, you likely don’t have to worry about that hitch breaking off. As for me, I’m happy with it! There’s also one that has a black Porsche Cayenne and a black car trailer which I hope to get someday!

So, if you happen to see any of these in stores, and, if you like any of them, I wouldn’t overlook these! At least give them a try!
