Aston Martin Cygnet [Custom by Philip]

All the way back on May 16th, 2014 (LaLD was just barely over a month old) I challenged the customizers of our fledgling community to a ridiculous and seemingly impossible task: Turn a Tomica Toyota iQ into one of the most goofy cars this side of a Suzuki X/90: the Aston Martin Cygnet.

36 minutes later I received this reply from Philip:

LOL I’ll try!

I promptly ordered the Tomica off eBay. Around 10 days later receiving a package from Japan. Here are a few pics of the iQ I took before mailing it off to Philip:

I then pretty much completely forgot about it. Well this morning a package arrived in the mail. Initially I was confused. I didn’t recall any HWEPs I had done recently. Had I agreed to a trade? I was fairly positive I hadn’t. Why would Philip be mailing me anything? I tore open the package to discover.......

A one-of-a-kind Aston Martin Cygnet!!

What all did Philip do? I texted him about the grille. Here’s his reply:

I put a big ole blob of JB weld on the front to hide all the IQ facial features, then sanded it into a flat cygnet front and added a decal over the top for the grille, emblem, and foglights

Wow.

He also obviously painted the roof black giving it that full length sunroof look. The generic Tomica wheels were swapped for Hot Wheel 10-spokes. He even went so far as to change the interior color from light grey to a much more visible tan color.
