I have what I sometimes refer to as my “Permanent Collection”. These are diecasts that for whatever reason: nostalgia, sentimentality, just plain awesomeness, etc. I will never trade. A lot of these are cars from my youth, unique cars (Saturn Ion Quad Coupe, anyone?), models of cars I’ve owned, and models that are just too damn cool. The Grateful Dead VW Bus falls into that last category, and this Siku certainly does as well.

I honestly don’t recall how this model came into my life. From the metal base it says “Mercedes Benz 300SL”, “Made in Germany” and has the “Siku” logo. It also appears to have some power specs but they are too small for me to read.

I’d be wildly guessing as to scale, but probably in the 1/55 to 1/60 range.

Old style Siku rubber wheels are icing on the cake.

It’s one of those diecasts that you gravitate towards when looking at a large selection of vehicles. For that, it certainly deserves to be a part of my “Permanent Collection”.
