Greenlight, Greenlight, Greenlight

Greenlight product announcements have been lighting it up over the last few days. I had to tease one new product last night do to its more “adult-theme” but here’s a slew of all ages models coming up on deck!

Barrett-Jackson has teamed up with Greenlight for this 1940s General Motors Futurliner. My only wish is that they’d gone on the way up to 1/18! It will be a Hobby Exclusive, so start hitting up your independent diecast shops or, presumably, buy a car at auction from Barrett-Jackson! :)

Two 70’s icons are next. With a high quality Starsky & Hutch 1/18 Torino launched under the “Artisan” imprint. Where I may have questioned putting out $70 for a “Joe Dirt” - themed Artisan 1/18, I think Starsky & Hutch gets a bit closer to the mark.

More ‘70s is coming with this AMC Javelin:

Clearly in development, but looks pretty solid so far. That era-appropriate paint! This is also planned to be a 1/18 Hobby-Exclusive

Finally, two welcome announcements from GL. The first has been a bane of covering and owning Greenlights, because I think their products are so unique and collectible. Quality Control. In my case I’ve had trailers drag out of the packaging, roll bars that sag, and even small-ish things like hoods that are slightly ajar and brittle plastic mudflaps that just crack. My 1/43 F&F Ford Escort that cost $40 at ToysRUS is down to just one remaining.

These next announcements give me a bit of hope:

A brand new finish to the Airstream trailers

Is there a white one back there?

And, finally, kids.

My hope here is GL will have to up the quality of some of their pricier offerings if some are not only known but marketed to children. I don’t expect “Gauranteed for Life” style claims anytime soon, but an increase in durability will hopefully continue impress other collectors to give them a shot.

What’s your thoughts, considerations? Are you excited to see them? Would you be willing to make an investment in one or more?
