My SLR

Finally, after all the essays, homeworks, projects, and exams are out of the way. I get to do the post on my very first trade on LaLD. I'm now on vacation at a place that is personally special to me, but more of that later, lets get to the point of this post. In November, I acquired a car that I never got to get for my ever growing exotic collection through a trade, a car that I didn't know existed and once I found out it's existence, haunted my dreams for quite some time (6 years in fact). It's the McLaren Mercedes SLR from Matchbox.

Matchbox got the proportion of the car bang on and the detailing on it is icing on the cake. I like the SLR's (actually, I like any exotic car) bizarre birth where the engineers at Mercedes and the engineers from McLaren constantly bickering about what the SLR should be. Mercedes want a high-speed cruiser but McLaren want a laptime record breaker with all the F1 know-hows they have. The argument went so deep that the engineers from the two companies can't even agree on the description of the exhaust note of that monstrous supercharged 5.5 V8. The result? A well-balanced blend of comfort and performance, it's got F1 technologies from McLaren but still obtain the quality and luxury that you expect from a Mercedes, it's a car that can be driven fast by anyone ( thanks to air conditioning, cruise control, and automatic gearbox). I think it's a masterpiece but unfortunately both McLaren and Mercedes says otherwise, therefor after the SLR, they parted ways and went on making there own supercars in-house with the SLS AMG, the successor to the SLR from Mercedes and the MP4-12c from McLaren.

Here are more pictures of the car along with the SLS AMG that it came with as a bonus. Many thanks to BoxerFanatic for doing this trade and finally making my dream come true.
