Settting Records HAWL: French Friday Edition

I was supposed to post these 2 days ago but I didn’t get around to it since I was caught up with something else which you’ll see in a bit (shame on me). However, it’s not too late in fact, its perfect timing since this batch of HAWLS is perfect for French Friday. But before the unveiling, a little story.

So I was doing more sight-seeing around Taiwan to locate a place that my mom suggested me to check out that I’ll enjoy. I first came across a mall so I went in and check out what they had in stock and spotted these Ford Performance Series.

I didn’t expect to see this in Taiwan since I thought this was a Walmart special and I never saw them in the states. The #7 2014 Custom Mustang was missing out of the 8 car series, I left them since I wasn’t into Mustangs that much and went back in search for the special location.

I finally found the place that my mom was talking about and she was right, the place sold mangas, movies, and other cool things that caught my interest and I stayed around the area til nightfall. I ended up finding a 4 book manga series that I was dying to finish since the printing of the fourth and final book ended abruptly so was hard to find and the manga artist left it as a cliffhanger (reason why I neglected my post). I thought my day was complete until I came across something else in that place, diecasts. The place had loads of things include Gundams and even M2 Haulers. I browsed through the place and came back with these unexpected goodies.

These are my first Norevs, I won’t show all of them since some were featured a few times on here like the Alpine A110. I’ll show my 2 favorites in this batch which are the Citroen C4 Cactus and the Peugeot Onyx Concept.

The Citroen C4 Cactus has funky design you expect from the French but also demonstrate function. The amusing “airbump” rubber body panels on the doors and parts of the front and rear bumper help prevent damage to other cars by careless Cactus driver and vice versa. It’s a perfect car to suit the chaotic traffic of Paris, and have great potential of being a hot seller stateside if Citroen bothers to sell it in the U.S.

Next is the Peugeot Onyx Concept, a mad supercar with responsibly. It’s a Le Mans race car for the road that is even more conscience about the environment than the Hypercar Trinity, it too is a hybrid but the turbocharged V8 runs on frugal clean diesel and parts of the car were made out of the most natural material like copper body panels and interior made of crystal and recycled paper to further add connection between machine and the environment.

The show doesn’t end there, the last car I picked up is also a special milestone for me. This:

My first Kyosho, the Mercedes CLK GTR Roadster., I’ve been eyeballing one of these ultra-rare (only 6 real 1:1 were made) homologation specials for quite a long time and when I saw this at the right price and no shipping cost required, I bought it in a heartbeat.

After admiring it for a few minutes I discovered something odd, the mirror on the driver’s side is mounted on the fender whereas the mirrors on the passenger side was mounted directly onto the door. I quickly Googled a picture of the 1:1 and sure enough, the driver’s side is a fender mirror and the passenger’s side is a door mirror. Anyone know why that is?
