In the past week there has been reports flowing in of people finding the latest assortments of MBX including the recolor of everyone’s beloved 1971 Hakosuka Skyline. The one comment that overpowers everything else however is its color is little to desire.
I tried to hold off my judgment until I see/find one myself and just last night I encounter just that.
And my word, it is as bad as everyone say it is. The paint looks unfinished, as if the pre-production prototype accidentally got packaged and shipped for retail. I tried to detail it a bit to help soften the ugliness and it doesn’t help that much.
So why did I buy it? I mentioned in a comment that I’ll only pick up this recolor if its the racing harness/turbo engine variation which this is and why I’m wrong about criticizing this car
I commented that MBX got lazy with the recolor which is simply not the case. The Skyline was an instant hit to both collectors and customizers, MBX even sent out the cast to various customizers from social media inviting them for a customizing contest. So they released this recolor somewhat as a clean canvas and let our imagination be free, they know most customizers will take it apart and strip the paint so the paint doesn’t have to be fancy like the first release. The interior variation was a further egg on face on my part. I found out that interior variation role has been switched this time around, in the first release, the variation of the racing harness and turbo engine was consider rare and hard to find. This time however the racing harness variation is much more common, another evidence of putting customizers in mind.
I have no experience in customizing, but leaving it the way it is with the fact that its got the turbo engine making it more of a sleeper than the first release with the same variation makes me a fan.
