Muscle Monday: Phoenix on Steroid

Disclaimer: I picked up this car days before my recent $TH score at Target but forgot to share it.

I’m not big at collecting muscle cars, it was decision I made 6 years ago to narrow down my collecting focus as well as controlling my spending (the latter isn’t really working). But when this car was announced as part of this year’s lineup I knew I want one because it’s got a special story.

A car owned by HW designers Brendon Vetuskey it’s got a LS swap and tuned for autocross racing. Now we’ve seen HW designers’ personal 1:1s become 1:64 on many occasions, but seeing one that is this subtle and based on a muscle car no less rather than a JDM is quite refreshing.

I’m sure I’ll get hate for saying this, I think we just got ourselves a new king of a customizer’s starter car. The car have a well molded engine for detailing or get yanked out to slap into a different cast which someone on here already did (looking at you Philiphilip). There’s no paint to strip either since it comes in it’s raw ZAMAC form with the black tampos in various places that are easier to remove than paint. I’m sure these are going to be picked up by the bulk by many customizers alike, heck, even I’m tempted to go pick up another one to take apart. Perhaps that’s why it took me a longer than usual to find this.

For now though, I’ll be going for the less destructive type of customizing and detail the car and then tackle something more difficult like wheel swaps when I pick up a second. That’s all for now, catch you guys next time. Cheers
