The 935 Turbo that I featured yesterday led to this, a fire-breathing monster of potentially 845hp in highest tune with enlarged displacement engine from 3.0 to 3.2, water-cooled cylinder heads instead of traditional air-cooled with the gearbox mounted upside down to reduce the angle of the drive shafts to improve durability. 

Loophole in the Group 5 rulebook was used once again where it allowed the floor pan to be cut to accommodate the exhaust for front-engine layout cars. Porsche took advantage of this and cut the whole floor pan off the 911 to lower the body by 10 cm for better center of gravity. The new 935 also switched to a right hand drive configuration for better weight distribution and driver’s sight to be more suitable to the clockwise direction of LeMans circuit.

Major makeover on the bodywork with extended front fenders combined with long tail for lower drag, the 935/78 particularly in the white Martini livery got the infamous nickname: “Moby Dick”

With over 150 victories of various events under its belt and over 20 of those are class wins, it was a force to be reckoned with. It won both the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring 6 times and also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979.

I will still contest that this is the best example HW has made of this casting so far, even better than the rare Hot Wheels Racing ROADRCR from 2012. Out of all the releases so far this one is the closest to a real competing 935/78, not only the MOMO livery but also the turbine wheels are close to what they look like on the real car. I couldn’t even deduct points for the enlarged real wheels as Porsche got me covered. Here’s the real car:
