So I pulled out these two little champions. I got them as “freebies” with an ebay deal - the seller said he couldn’t flog them and thought I might like them. Did I ever... Two more early 70s Hong Kong Honeys to ad to my collection.
This one is a Tyrrell-Ford by TinToys - most likely an “003” as raced in 1971. Yes, it is meant to be blue, have the numbers 1 or 2, and have Elf sponsorship instead of STP, and an air intake behind the driver, but otherwise, it is spot on. Well, no, not really, but hey it has metallic paint!
The other one is a Faie Lotus JPS 76 from 1974, Here the colour and sponsorship is correct:
But the engine definitely isn’t... And to be honest, it looks a lot more like a 72 than a 76. But back in the day, how many people knew the difference anyway? And how many do today?
And now I feel better already, mission accomplished. ;-)
