Throwback Thursday: Ford Model T

This Model T Taxi comes from the Dutch company EFSI, which I think I have mentioned before. The company was founded as “Best Box” around 1960 to provide work for disabled miners. Imagine that today!

Perhaps Matchbox objected to the name? But for whatever reason, the name was changed to “EFSI”. The company later moved into the production of HO Scale trucks (often for promotional use) under the “Holland-Oto” label. Apparently this concern is still going, though it is now a commercial company like any other.

As you can see, the models were simple but nicely made. There were a whole bunch of Model T variations made, like coupe, sedan, pickup, delivery van, delivery van in fire engine livery (with ladder), tanker, and wrecker truck.

The base proudly displays its origin as “Holland” rather than “The Netherlands” - for reasons that are not entirely clear to me. Scale? Probably around 1/60 - a bit larger than 1/64 definitely. Which is strange as their other cars (usually late 60s cars) tended to be a bit smaller than equivalent Matchbox models.
