Went to Johor Bahru, Malaysia (my hometown!!) today for a short break, and during a short stop at a local mall I found the Hot Wheels ‘15 Mazda MX-5 Miata, Renault RS.01 (FINALLY!!!), and the China-made knockoff Range Rover Sport pullback toy. The Range Rover is not in a scale I normally collect (I collect 1/64 but this Rangie is a 1/32), but being a Range Rover, I just HAD to buy it! Furthermore, it was only RM15! Cheap! But I guess it’s because it is a knockoff with no licensing permission. Whatever it is, I sure as hell ain’t complaining! Quality seems decent and my only downer of the Rangie is that the car lacks the licensed badges, but otherwise it’s all good...
The Miata and Renault were pleasant surprises! I didn’t think I’d still find this Renault anymore but I did so good find. Miata was also a shocker! Just when I thought the scalpers had made off with the good cars, I found FOUR of these Mazdas! But I only took one. Left the other three for lucky kids to find and take home. I normally arrange the good cars at the front of the pegs so that it’s easier for kids to select a licensed model and buy for their collection. Not a believer in scalping all the good stuff to rob the others of a chance to buy at least one model... It sickens me to see scalpers...
Anyhoo, got back into Singapore, and Isetan Jurong East was beckoning... Found two of the latest Majorette models, the Alfa 4C Spider and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. No sight of the McLaren 675LT or the Bentley Continental GT... I suppose scalpers were at it again....
Anyways it was a great day out, and I hope to get my hands on the Macca 675 and Big Ben soon!
