YELLOW CORN!

Recently purchased a 1/43 scale McLaren F1 GTR ‘Team Yellow Corn’ as raced in the 2002 Japan GT Car Championships. Model brand is IXO Models.

It’s a very well executed model. Build quality is excellent (as with any IXO models). The one thing that drew me to this model was the odd sponsor ‘Yellow Corn’. As far as I know, they specialise in motorcycle attire and gear and have nothing to do with the automotive sector! But this is the Japan GT we’re talking about; there are many teams with odd and colourful sponsors...

This model depicts the car raced by Naoki Hattori and Eiichi Tajima in the 2002 season of the Japan GT Car Championship. I don’t think the car did very well in their field; I read somewhere that the BMW v12 was heavily detuned or something... but it’s definitely a stunning car.
