People collect die cast cars for many reasons, one of which is that they want a replica of their family car when they were young. Such is the case for this 1:58 (but please, judges, just file this under 1:64) Matchbox 1962 Volkswagen Beetle: it is a near-exact copy of my father’s Tangerine ‘70s beetle! Here it is almost twenty years ago:

I obtained this MBX in the card, so the car was in mint condition when it was DLM’d. They were immediately wheelswapped to mimic the aftermarket 5-spoke rims my Father used in his Bug.
The Good: tampos on the front and rear. Has headlights, taillights, some trim and a license plate. All around glass ensures that the interior will not be dusty.
The bad: the tampos are a bit misaligned. Also, clearance issues at the rear meant that I had to cut off a bit from the interior. Also, this has a sunroof, while my dad’s car had none.
The MBX cost me 150 Philippine Pesos, or roughly US$3. A fair price in our market. Bringing back memories of Dad’s old Bug, and seeing him light up when he held this MBX in his hand, was priceless.
Enjoy!
