Going Solar

This is the 1998, First Editions, Solar Eagle III that was based on the solar-powered electric vehicle build by students under the guidance of faculty and staff of Cal State L.A. On Saturday, June 28, 1997, the Solar Eagle III won the prestigious Sunrayce 97, the national intercollegiate solar car race. (Hot Wheels Wiki).

My daughter’s friend donated this little gem to my collection. Had no idea HW’s even designed something like this. So here she is in all her glory...

Apparently this edition came with either a Metal or Metalflake Black plastic base. As you can see...I now own the Metal plastic base.

It was also available in a 5 piece action pack.
