So you all may remember this post from a few weeks ago, in which I dug out my box of old Bburagos to post pictures of the BMW and the Porsche. In the comments, Jobjoris expressed an interest in the Matra Simca Bagheera also in the box, and suggested I show it off on French Friday, rough as it was. Well, since then, I have discovered a couple more interesting Bagheeras to show off. Let’s start with the yellow one that got this all rolling. I’ve had this since I was a kid, and it’s obviously lived a rough life.
When I ventured back into the basement soon after that and started poking through my scattered diecast collection, I found this little orange Majorette. No recollection of where or when I got it, but it’d have to have been at a yard sale or flea market in the last few years:
Now it gets weird. Remember, I hadn’t seen or thought of my yellow car (or any Bagheera for that matter) for YEARS before digging out this box in response to TFritch’s post. The weekend after I found and posted about my Bburagos, I was out of town with my daughter and performed my usual ritual of scoping out any antique stores in the area to look for interesting toys, specifically slot cars. Well, I struck out on the slot cars, but I couldn’t pass this up:
Yeah, that’s what I paid for it. Not perfect, but in pretty nice shape.
I did a little basic Wikipedia research on the Bagheera since I had never heard of one outside of these diecasts. Pretty interesting stuff.
