[CUSTOM] Austin Mini Cooper S

This one was a little special.

Ever since my dad was about 5 years old he has loved Mini Coopers. He clipped articles, followed the Monte Carlo rally, saved up to buy Mini Cooper S pins, et cetera. However, since we always lived in the Netherlands, in the middle of Amsterdam, a car was useless, so we never had one. When we moved to Chicago in 2000, it finally became feasible to have a car, but price-wise it made more sense at the time to buy a Honda Civic coupe (special to me in its own right, since that is what I learned to drive in).

Finally in 2009 my dad was able to live his dream, and he got a 6SP manual 2010 Mini Cooper S hardtop in pepper white with a black roof and red leather interior accents. It was beautiful. However, Blanquita, as she was known, suffered from the typical BMW-produced Mini problem of clutch issues, and three clutches in there years later my mom had enough and 'Blanquita' was replaced with 'Verde,' a BRG automatic Cooper S. Still a great car, but just not the same.

I had the red MBX Austin Mini with the strange livery lying around, so I decided to make it a homage to Blanquita and send it to my dad. Pepper white, black roof, red interior accents, plus black racing stripes that where not on his original because my mom thought they were tacky. :-)

It's going in the mail to him first thing Monday.
