[Custom] Shelby Cobra & BMW M4

I have been out of the customs game for a bit, with pregnant wives and then newborn babies (one of each, to be exact) taking up most of my time, but I finally got back into the action in between bottles and diapers and all that. Sleep? Who needs it when you can paint tiny cars!

The result of my “prioritizing” is a batch of two cars, one of which appropriately belongs on Tuetonic Tuesday: a Shelby Cobra and a BMW M4.

First up: the Shelby. A while back I saw amazing pictures of a black Shelby with a yellow strip across the hood that was too striking to ignore. I couldn’t find a good yellow paint, but did have this lovely light blue, and I think it worked out nicely!

I switched the wheels, adding more lifelike silver wheels, used the brass tube axle method which lowered the car a tad, and added some sun visors, that are sadly not as visible as I’d like them to be. The seatbelts are color coordinated with the hood stripe and play nice with my signature saddle brown interior.

Have some engine detail! I didn’t do too much to this glorious lump, but some red spark plug leads do the job nicely.

On to the M4!

This project actually came together really quickly. I found the color while in discussion with Jeff, who talked me out of doing the same copper color found on the 1M Coupe, in favor of something closer to the best BMW color in the world: midnight blue. It turned out slightly more purple than I wanted, but it works well on the casting!

Some head- and tail light detailing, MBX multispoke wheels with BMW center caps, and there you go. Fresh BMW M4!

I decided to do something a little bit different with the interior, and went with a bright red. What do you think?

I think I’m going to take TE71Xin’s suggestion to Sn210 of replacing the printer paper with tracing paper, but overall the results were not bad! This is at least one perk of having a newborn!
