We’ve moved! Now the great services you’ve come to expect from VDH Customs have moved to a bigger and better location. More and better equipment, a bigger space with more room for our craftspeople to move around, and more space for cars! A new customer service center will also soon be opened. And as you can see, we are not afraid to extend our hours. We don’t leave until the job’s done.
I finally found the Greenlight Mechanic’s Corner building at Pep Boys last week, and couldn’t wait to spend some time weathing it and making it look a little more realistic.
I dry brushed the whole thing with light grey, dark grey, and liberally applied brown wash on all the brick, and then lightly sanded the doors to get some metal exposed, and added more drybrushing and wash to get the dirt/age going. I also added a few more cracks in the concrete driveway from the neighbor’s giant tree who’s roots have wandered over onto our property, and some static grass to add some greenery.
The sign is not final yet, but for now is just printed on paper and stuck to a piece of styrene. I was originally going to superglue the whole shebang to the facade, but that seemed a bit too permanent for now, so instead I glued some neodymium magnets to the back of it and attached it with two more magnets on the inside. The magnets will be easy enough to remove from the back of the styrene, and this way the sign can be moved around or changed on a whim without damaging anything.
