I finally had some successful hunting last week, finding the JH2s I was looking for, and after unwrapping the Skyline C210 it somehow fell right into the paint stripper!
Thankfully miraculously none of the interior bits fell in (probably because I had already drilled out the rivets, carefully drilled and tapped the posts, and taken the whole thing apart), so I thought I might as well do a respray.
Sadly, however, my clumbsy streak continued, and the naked zamac casting kept falling on my needle files until all four fender flares were completely gone! On a serious note, I got a little overzealous on the left rear fender and had to fill in the recess with some superglue. I sprinkled some of the metal dust from the filing on top of the glue so it would form a nice metal/glue paste. Worked pretty well!
Of course now the wheels stuck out a tad, but that I was able to fix because for some reason the little four spokes come with super long barrels on the inside part of the wheel. I basically sliced off 1 mm or so from the back of the wheel and voila, all nice and flush.
Here’s to hopefully not being so clumbsy in the future...
