She’s done! And in the nick of time, too, since the deadline to have the car to @chasillac_hotwheels for judging is Tuesday! But I think it turned out pretty nice.

I worked myself a little too close to the deadline, so sadly I wasn’t able to clearcoat the car, but the detailing turned out pretty nicely.

Sorry for the second-rate photos. It was already 1:30AM by the time I finished, so I couldn’t take it outside for some proper photos or anything...

Since we last spoke about this car, I added some detailing to the rear end by adding a custom exhaust. Since the back of the bast is slanted, however, there was no really secure way to attach it. I toyed with drilling a hole into the metal to glue the exhaust pipes inside of, but that wouldn’t be very accurate to the 1:1, so instead I did something similar to how I tackled the pop-up lights and built up some styrene that I shaped and glued the pipes onto. I then covered the back with some thin styrene to form a muffler and voila!

I also added the engine airscoops made from styrene, as well as the vents behind them. HUGE pain in the butt...

After that last bodywork was done, it was time for paint. The yellow turned out pretty well, I think! Such an iconic color for early Countaches so I knew I had to go in that direction.

Detailing was up next. I started on the rear and worked my way to the front. It didn’t turn out as clean as I wanted it to be, but overall I’m happy with the outcome.

Lastly, on the interior I followed some images I found on GIS of a two-tone brown interior with black accents. You can’t see too much of it, but I know it’s there! I also added a custom made shifter.

At the last moment I also decided to add an engine. Again, from the outside you can’t see it, especially with the Countach’s already legendary rear visiblity, plus the small scale. But I think the Aventador J I stole the engine from realized it was sacrificed for a good cause.

Hope you all like it, and we’ll see how the competition stacks up! It’s a roundrobin tournament-style competition, so if I can, I’d like to selfishly engage the LaLD social media empire to support my car and let’s ride this crazy car all the way to the top! Whoo!
