This one is close to home. Our family car for the last 10 years has been a Honda Pilot. First a 2004, then a 2010, now a 2016. I’m guessing our next one will have to be a MY2022...
Being of the philosophy that everyone should have a diecast model of their 1:1, I periodically look on ebay to check on the state of these in miniature, but being such a mundane everyday car, they don’t often show up. And if they do, they are listed for $100 or so. Until superhero Nate13 stepped in, that is! He was able to get one for me for a much more reasonable price, and, though not the same trim level or color as our 1:1, it’s amazing.
The model is a dealer exclusive made by TSM in 1:43. And, per the usual, TSM has done a superb job in the details, with a beautiful interior, great paint finish, even a spare tire and seperate exhause pipe leading all the way to the engine.
As I said, this is the top of the line Elite, whereas ours is one step below that (Touring), but that just means we have an extra seat in the second row, and no panoramic moonroof, both of which I’m okay with.
The model is going to sit on my wife’s desk in her office, since it’s her daily driver, but she graciously allowed me to open it up and give it some fresh air before it attains museum status.
