Teutonic Tuesday: WIP Whips

Like usual, I have a bunch of projects running concurrently. I’m a little ADD when it comes to customs projects, and always get tempted to jump into the next exciting idea before the last exciting idea is finished. The result is, of course, a list of too many projects to count, sadly causing some delays on things I really should be finishing first, like commissioned builds.

So sorry to anyone that has ever been affected by my slowness! :D

1. BMW 2002

I’ve had it in my head for a long time to do a more stock 2002 based on the HW widely-flared version, and when dadurling mentioned he used to have a rectangle tail light version, I got inspired. So off came the fenders, off came the round tail lights, and on went some little styrene pieces for the rectangular ones.

Since the flares came off, the track width was severely narrowed, so the base got a ton of modification time as well, in addition to the chanced location of the exhaust, which now sits in its correct and super cute *just* off center position. Don’t worry, it won’t stay brass.

Right now the car has been sprayed light blue with a pearl over the top. It came out a little whiter than I wanted, but overall I’m not mad at it.

2. Back to my root(beer)s, a 356 outlaw!

Simply put, it’s completely as it came from the Hot Wheels factory, but resprayed a dark rootbeer color. I usually at least change one or two little details, like adding some hood trim or shaving off deck lid louvers, but I opted for a basic look with this one.

3. Another 356 outlaw!

This one is a pearl white, with the aforementioned hood trim added, as well as a tow hook and wider exhaust placement to make room for said tow hook. Once it’s all done (and all it needs is some light polishing + another layer of clear), it will tow an orange GL tear drop trailer.

4. Last 356 outlaw, a speedster this time.

Small Silver Speedster. Added a faring for behind the driver’s head, but that’s about it.

5. G-body Safari 911

I shaved the fenders a bit on this one, and also shaved the lower lip on the front. I also built this roof rack, which I’m in the process of painting black, hence the masking tape.

I also built some rally lights for her, and she sits on a raised chassis complete with front brush guard, and will ride on knobbly Matchbox offroad wheels. ORAT!!!

6. Red 911 ST

The ST was basically a 911RS minus the duckbill, and this one is going to be a replica of a standard 911 T that a guy in Cali fully converted to an ST. There was an excellent Petrolicious article about it, if you want to read more!

7. White 911

This one will be a replica of a build Rod Emory is doing for a customer. It’s styled after the 908/10 he had in his shop.

8. Not-Teutonic, but still awesome, a draggy Mustang!

Smaller fronts, big fat rears. Nuff said! Took a lot of sanding on the inside to get it to roll.
