As soon as I saw the April 5th story on Petrolicious about a 1972 Porsche 911T-turned-911ST, I knew I had to build it in 1/64 scale. And I finally finished it!
Except for the hood latches that I literally JUST realized I forgot, and will be adding later...
Anywaaaaays, I won’t bore you too much with the details of the 1:1 build, as it is beautifully written up on Petrolicious, but suffice it to say that with only 24 examples built, the real Group 2 racer 911ST was much rarer than the 2.7RS.
2.5 liters, 270 horses, and big-ass tires and matching flares = seriously special machine. And in striking red, it only gets better.
Thankfully the Hot Wheels casting already had the required flares and roll cage, so all I had to do in terms of body mods were a wider set exhaust with scratch-built pipes, and a reworked front bumper.
I added some decals made by @911customwerks on IG, a set of staggered 15" Fuchs wheels, a full detail inside and out (I did take some liberty with the interior, where instead of plain black I had a little fun with the seat inserts), and hopefully I’ve done the real thing proud.
