It was my birthday again last month, as normally happens once a year, and that meant it was time for another 1:18 model. Well, did Model Citizen Diecast have a doozie available!
CitizenPatrick advertised this bad boy on Instagram, and I think I had it in my cart within about 5 minutes of seeing it, and in my house within 3 days. Seriously took no time at all!
This, my good friends, is the 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RSR driven at the 24 Hours of Daytona by Mark Donohue. I wrote a full background of the car itself when I showed the 1:43 version this past summer, so I will just refer you to that post.
My first experience with GT Spirit resin models, and oh boy was I not disappointed! Yeah, no engine detail for me, but all the good stuff is still there! The wheels are really well done, there is a little light to illuminate the door numbers, since they didn’t have fancy fluorescent paint in 1973 apparently, and all decals are really nicely done.
If I had to come up with one drawback it’s that the brackets reinforcing the windshield and rear screen are simply decals, but I think that’s okay, and I won’t subtract from the model’s score for that.
So once again, for I think the 4th year in a row, a huge THANK YOU to CitizenPatrick for one-of-a-kind customer service, and for always having a badass selection of models to choose from, outside of your concierge service.
