Land of the Rising Sun-day: World's Ugliest Car?

Ever since I got back into collecting, resources have been kinda tight, so I try to keep my collection focused on things that really interest me. Something has really gotta capture my attention or fit well into an established collection before I'm compelled to buy it. So when you've been dubbed the "world's ugliest car," you've got me.

The Mitsuoka Orochi has been pretty badly received based on its aesthetics, and you can see why. It's a strangely unorthodox design with its over abundance of curved edges, organic lines and its "face"

Seriously, look at it. I've heard people saying that it's supposed to resemble a snake, and given the name, "Orochi" I suppose that's a plausible interpretation, but really, I'm thinking baleen whale, the air intake looks perfect for straining out krill.

This model is the standard retail release by tomica and it really comes in the most unphotogenic purple. Then again, I don't think there are that many options in terms of Orochis in the 1/64 scale, so I suppose unphotogenic will have to do.

Overall, I don't think the Orochi is inherently an ugly car, it just belongs to a world of high-concept cars that much like high-fashion, the world just isn't ready for.
