The E30 M3 DTM from HotWheels Racing Series, sub series Road Racer. Never sold in the US, I had to find this one on the Ebays. I know what you’re thinking, this guy has to be mental to not only DLM a car like this, but wheel swap it and detail it as well... well I never said I didn’t have a few screws loose. Besides, with the level of customs out there it is really getting hard to create that “wow!” effect. Last I checked on Ebay there were only a handful of these going for $50 a pop and I myself paid over $20 for this diecast over a year ago.
This diecast was already a stellar example of what HotWheels can do but I always felt that the gold (Ferrari) five spokes were the wrong choice on a German DTM legend. So in comes my favorite set of multi spoke RR’s, dare I say these can never be over used in my opinion. While I had the car split open for the wheel swap and custom axles I added a few dabs of silver to the cockpit and rollbar. I went back and forth whether to to detail all of the window trim but in the end I felt that it makes the car much more correct. I feel I did an ok job with the trim detailing but it was nearing midnight when I did so and my hands were getting a little shaky. On the topic of details, the frontend of the car already looked killer but I did add a few touches to the bumper. Out back the wing was cast into the body so I colored in the voids for a shadow effect. Other then that not much to say, gave it some race car stance and called it a day (or late night actually).
