Porsche 911, generation 993, model GT2, color Speed Yellow. Factory hot rod, what you get when you tell the accountants to take a hike and let the engineers and designers have at it. This 911 has the perfect balance of aggressive looks and smooth lines, for me personally the best all around 911 ever produced for the road. If the world were ending tomorrow this is the car I’d be buying today. Every variation of the 993, from the base Carrera up through the formidable GT1, ticks all the right boxes. A generational balance of early 911 aircooled rawness with later 911 watercooled refinement.
From Wikipedia: The 993 generation GT2 was initially built in order to meet homologation requirements for motorsports. Because the cars were built to meet the GT2 class regulations, the road cars were named accordingly. The 993 GT2 featured widened plastic fenders and a larger rear wing with air scoops in the struts. The 993 GT2's original 3.6 L (220 cu in) engine developed 316 kW (430 PS); in 1998 it was upgraded to 331 kW (450 PS). Only fifty-seven road cars were built (seven of which were right-hand drive).
This UT die-cast in 1:18 is one of the few reasonably priced models of this 911 and I was lucky enough to find an open box on Ebay for quite the steal. The model, aside from preowned cosmetic issues, is a great piece with enough details to justify adding it to any collection. All panels open, curiously the decklid/wing are plastic, with interior details being more then adequate. Sadly, the large intercooler hides any real engine detail. Enjoy!
