1:18 Ford GT40 MkII. This will just be a one take today folks, not happy with the shots I took last night. Another great entry level die cast, but still loads of detail and great to look at, from Shelby Collectibles. I couldn’t pass it up at TRU the other weekend, especially since I had a $10 rewards coupon. They actually had the black version that won Le Mans in 1966 but it looked like it had been dropped and kicked, lots of broken parts :/ In retrospect I should have asked how much they would have discounted it. I also noticed that the pin stripes on the Goodyear tires are missing, not sure if that’s a factory error but it’s certainly not correct.
Anyhow, this is the #2 car driven by Dan Gurney at the 12 hours of Sebring that set poll, failed to get off the line at race start, then climbed the entire field to lead the race only to loose the engine on the last lap. A very interesting and very tragic race, a good read nonetheless.
