Photo Dump! - Tomica Limited R30 Skyline

It's been a while since the last Tomica Limited I showcased on LaLD, the next one is long overdued. Knowing that the majority of members here are big fans of Japanese classic/nostalgic cars, I dug out another 2-door vehicle with a more familiar name and have it sit before the lens.

Skyline. Since the advent of Gran Turismo, this name has spread all over the world; sparking global interest. Most of us would associate Skylines with the R32, R33, R34 trifecta along with the Hakosuka and Kenmeri models. And because of that, I decided to give some love to the lesser-known Skyline siblings. Thus bringing us to the DR30 Skyline 2000 Turbo RS-X model from Tomica Limited.

This particular model was realised in 2007 to commemorate 50 years of Skyline Heritage, wearing a two-tone grey and maroon livery instead of the more popular red and black combo. Those who know their R30 Skylines would know this is the facelifted version which was affectionately nicknamed "Iron Mask". With the long moniker, the RS-X was the higher (if not highest) performance trim of the DR30.

Thanks to its staid paint scheme, it looks very unassuming.

Nice little details like the "50" logo on the nose adds to the uniqueness of this model. Tomica made sure to add the individual plastic lenses for the headlights and painted the license plate to take care of things at the front end.

Front indicator lights and a very small RS badge for the sides, and black trim which wraps a around a body. I think this is an interesting car made to look boring. What adds a bit of flair to this car is the set of '80s retro-tastic lace wheels it sits on. Even those lack width to fill up the wheel wells.

The doors open to reveal a basic interior, to which you can see a nicely molded steering wheel. It appears period correct however there isn't much of a dashboard to speak of.

Ah, how can we leave out the iconic Skyline rear tail lights? The rear indicator lights and reverse lights are painted, don't let the picture fool you; this car isn't all that big.

Even small than the lights are the badges on the trunk lit, incredibly tiny but it could still be made out. Tomica gets praise for including details like this even though they almost couldn't be seen.
