Released by Tomica Limited in Midnight Purple, one of the GT-R holy grails in my collection. The was the last piece one the shelf, I could see why it was the only one left; it has a devastatingly huge amount of orange peel on its paint. Finding another one in the wild wasn't going to be easily so this got to follow me back home.
Tomica Limited is a series which you see regular Tomica models receiving an overhaul in the appearance department; all new paint, decals and wheels. Each month, a car is selected to receive this treatment. They were priced at SG$10 when I started to take notice of them, and then at SG$13 perhaps due to the strong Yen at that time. A couple of years back, TOMY (the parent company) decided to discontinue the Tomica Limited line and prices in the secondary market have soared.
The GT-R, being a popular car and model, had its fair share of appearance in the Tomica Limited series with different colors and graphics. Not being fond of repeats and variations, I stuck to this.
The terrible paint quality is rare of Tomica, where the doors start from the front fender the peel worsens.
Urgh, utterly horrible. I feel seasick looking at the paint...
It's a pity though, whatever nice details that's been put on this car; all of it is let down by the wavy and stormy Midnight Purple. Nonetheless, I prefer this over the regular release. Tomica did a spectacular job on thse SpecV wheels, the wheel fitment is something I'm really happy about.
Since Tomica Limited Vintage will be releasing the R35 GT-R, I am looking forward to seeing their representation of the newest Godzilla. For now, I'll leave you with this - enjoy!
