Continuing with the Japanese police theme from last week, I bring to you this R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R from Tomica Limited’s HIGHWAY PATROL COLLECTION III - GT-R vs Z
There’s something about seeing a Japanese motoring icon in a police uniform, a car so notoriously known for storming up and down the Wangan made to enforce the law. As police cars of the era were limited to 180 km/h (112 mph), this R32 wouldn’t pose a threat to the Mid Night Club but it looks like it has the potential.
I have been looking for a R32 from Tomica to add into my collection, Tomica’s habit of not re-releasing their older casting often makes it rather difficult; I didn’t hesitate when I saw this sitting on the shelf. Looking at the prices and availability of any TL Skyline GT-R (any gen) today, I’m glad I did’t let this slip.
The size of the lightbar is comically unproportionate, probably built bigger and sturdier to withstand rough handling from children. Like many performance vehicles in Tomica Limited, they don’t enough rubber to fill the wheel arches. But here I am nitpicking a toy car...
Knowing Tomica won’t be making anything like this anymore, these flaws will be looked at its charm point.
The suspension works a treat. (lol)
