Proudly displaying its 1.5 liter 4-banger is this 1:18 Honda Ballade Sports CR-X Si from AUTOart. It is hard to think about modern 4 pot engines without Honda in the picture and this CR-X is here to remind us and Honda of the fantastic pocket rockets that cemented the marque’s reputation in the late 1980s and early ’90s.
True to its compact size, even in 1:18 scale, it fits snugly in my Foldio II. I couldn’t be happier owning this unmistakable ‘80s icon, there is something about diecast versions of econoboxes - they just seem more fun to look at than their more exotic counterparts.
Under its hood is a tiny DOHC 1.5L engine attached to a myriad of hoses and cables - a sight that has almost disappeared in modern cars. Printed decals faithfully represent the labels on the various parts; AUTOart has certainly paid attention to detail to further add realism to this engine compartment.
That ethos spread throughout the interior and exterior of this model - definitely not a disappoint. There you have it, my Day 1 entry for LaLD Engine Week 2018. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
