Since I haven’t had much luck lately finding new releases I decided to work on a custom. I started the custom on Friday and worked on it here and there during the weekend. Just need some under carriage detailing, finish up the tailights and create some accessories for my truck like shovels, sleeping bags, etc.
I sacrificed 3 vehicles in the making. A Maisto All Stars transport truck (for random parts), a Maisto Ford GP (for gas cans, front bush guard and steering wheel), and a HW Spongebob Ford Bronco (for wheels)
I think I did a decent job on this mod considering I used ghetto tools and supplies
Snorkel make from slivers of plastic I cut off from the Maisto transport truck. Roof rack made from paperclips. The first roof rack was too high so I made a second, more low profile one.
This used to be the trailer platform from the Maisto hauler. I cut it down to fit the Tundra
Making the tailgate spare tire and jerry can holder.
I gave the Tundra one coat of paint and it turned out great. However, my stupid butt decided to give it another coat and I did it in the cold.....so the paint came out spotty. Oh well...this is an off-road truck and it’s supposed to look rugged so no need for showroom paint jobs.
The steering wheel on the Tundra needed to go! Also, I took a tv screen from the Maisto transporter
I took the steering wheel from the Maisto Ford GP
Steering wheel looks better on the Tundra
Some red tow hooks made from paperclips. I should have used a better drill to drill holes in the skid plate. Oh well..I can always replace that piece if it bugs me.
And now for some pictures of a semi finished Tundra
Truck step rails made from slivers of plastic and paperclip.
Don’t laugh at my spare tire! Real riders aren’t exactly cheap.
Jerry can is removable! Exhaust tips made from pen tips.
And yes the rear tire rack swings open and close! It was difficult to get it just right but I did it and it’s fully functional.
Still need to clean up the tailight detailings
Tonneau cover swings up.
I need to buy really tiny dollhouse hinges to attach my tonneau cover to the truck bed. For now, it’s not attached.
I added some plastic to the underside of the tonneau cover to keep it in place until I buy some mini hinges.
I made a jack for my truck. What use is a spare tire if you can’t jack up your truck to change it?
Look inside the exhaust tip. So much detailing. I didn’t notice it until I uploaded this picture.
I haven’t assembled the body permanently yet because I plan to still work on it. So if you see gaps here and there, that is why. I need to buy one of these so I can better see what I am painting. I am usatisfied with my sloppy tailights and headlights.
