For the past couple Fridays, we’ve seen some awesome F50’s from the legendary collection of Pillarless Coupe. So far, we’ve seen cars from Hot Wheels Elite and Bburago. I thought I’d pitch in and contribute my Maisto F50.
Design & Accuracy: 7/10
This Maisto is surprisingly similar to the HWE car. The only main difference is the engine bay, which should be a carbon fibre tub. The HWE car’s got it, but this Maisto went with a painted finish.
Fit & Finish: 4/10
I’m not overly impressed with the quality of this Maisto, and you guys have seen how much I like Maistos. First, the roof and wing are plastic. Understandable, but it’s pretty obvious. The colors of the panels look off and the roof doesn’t seem to line up perfectly with the rear fenders. Other dings to this score include paint flaws, loose fitting lense covers, and production marks on the wing and rear view mirror.
Features: 8/10
Pillarless Coupe wasn’t too impressed with the usual opening components on the HWE. Although the Maisto has most of the same features, I’m very impressed. After all, mine is just a Maisto, the other was an Elite! The doors, engine lid, and front clamshell all open. The engine bay has two folding struts to keep it open for display. You can also play with the suspension and watch it all work under there. The glorious F1 derived V12 engine is full of texture and unique pieces; it’s even got spark plug wires. The front clamshell stores a set of matching luggage! The steering wheel turns the front wheels... kinda. To me, that's a lot of features for a budget model.
Value: 8/10
Just like the Lambo, this is an awesome model for the money. There’s a price tag on the box still that reads $14.99. I bought this secondhand though, but it think for $25 off eBay.
Rarity: 5/10
Speaking of eBay, these Maistos are easy to come by. 33 Maistos, both hard top and top-less. There’s yellow, red, black, and silver out there for grabs. Slightly more rarer than the Hot Wheels versions, but about the same number for Bburago

Should you get it? The Maisto ended up scoring two points less than the HWE, although that’s kind of impressive for the more basic model.
