Here's the Wikipedia page about Canada's "Civic Holiday", celebrated across most of the country, besides Quebec and Newfoundland-Labrador, on the first Monday of August. The Wikipedia page claims it's not officially known as "Civic Holiday" in Ontario, and has different names depending on your municipality. In Toronto, it's "Simcoe Day", and, here in Ottawa, it's "Colonel By Day". Most unofficial holiday hour signs I see in stores in Ottawa still call it "Civic Holiday".
