The Triumph Herald is a small two-door car introduced by the Standard-Triumph Company of Coventry in 1959 and made through to 1971. Body design was by the Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti, and the car was offered in saloon, convertible, coupé, estate and van models, with the latter marketed as the Triumph Courier.

Dinky Toys, another die cast maker from Britain also came up with the Triumph Herald but slightly different in style from 1959 - 1963 and was the very first scale model introduced to coincide with the actual car launch.

Comparing features between the 2 companies, Dinky came with suspension and windows which Corgi introduced first and that’s about it. The Corgi comes with suspension, windows, opening bonnet and detailed engine which is more relevant on this car as it opens in an unusual way and it was quite a news point about the Herald when it was launched.

This model does not have many individual parts compare to a collectible model as this was marketed to kids at that time. With opening parts and nothing fragile as most of it is made of metal, this is one truly playable model.
