In this series I will showcase DLM cars ranging within the 1/64 and smaller. Another VW type 2 collections and for my 22nd model it will be the Greenlight 1968 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus which is as boxy as it can get.
If you want both raw aka Zamac and a painted model and love VW, looked no further than Greenlight’s Hobby Exclusive First Cut series. Comes in acrylic display case. This is a double delight for me as it also came with my favorite color.
No opening features but front and rear lights are separate parts. Comes with rubber tires and realistic wheels as well.
I remember as a child my family would visit my mom’s friend and her family and I was friends with both brothers and their sisters. Their family used to have a similar VW bus in this color and I would ride with them going to church or family outings.
This bus belongs to the second generation Type 2 (T2) introduced in late 1967. It was built in Germany until 1979. In Mexico, the Volkswagen Kombi and Panel were produced from 1970 to 1994. Models before 1971 are often called the T2a (or “Early Bay”), while models after 1972 are called the T2b (or “Late Bay”).
Funny that I should post this on Breadbox week as wikipedia indicated that their common nicknames are Breadloaf and Bay-window, or Loaf and Bay for short.
Till the next Type 2. Enjoy.
