Just when cars and even some SUVs are being designed with aerodynamics in mind, here comes a design with an old school look.
Although we have seen a few boxy cars like the ones made by Scion (a Toyota company), this one has the making of an almost vintage looking truck - or sometimes called a wagon - with rounded headlights, boxy bumpers and not to mention, a boxy body.
Made by AutoArt, a well known die cast manufacturer geared towards collector, this is the Mercedes Benz G55 AMG.
Known as the G-Class or sometimes called G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen, “cross country vehicle”), it is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr and sold by Mercedes-Benz.
The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) to Mercedes and offered as a civilian version in 1979.
With the AMG badge, which is the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz, this model is probably considered the high end of their luxury division.
To most of us, owning one is probably beyond our means. I am glad that this hobby gave us the opportunity to have one at an affordable price.
I really like this AutoArt model. It has a nice clean look and the front wheels actually turns albeit only slightly.
