There was a time when a lot of countries used Mercedes Benz as Taxi cabs. Of course Germany is no exception as we look back at a time before the Berlin wall was built with the 1959 Mercedes Benz 220SE Taxi Berlin by Vitesse.

This is my 2nd Mercedes Taxi collection in 1/43. The first one was the black Mercedes 200.

With spacious room and trunk, this taxi could probably seat 5 people including the driver comfortably and plenty of luggages that can fit in the trunk.
This car is also part of the “Fintail” series. There is actually a reason for the design. In Mercedes terminology the short rear fins were designated Peilstege, parking aids which marked the end of the car for aid in backing.

Although different in color and possibly the model year, this photo kind of reminded me of the resemblance of the villain’s car in a chase scene from the James Bond movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

The packaging certified that this is a limited edition and came with a number as well.
Although the Vitesse box indicated it was made by Sun Star models which is famous for their 1/18 detailed models, I was slightly disappointed at the quality control as one of the hubcaps looks like it was slightly melted. The front grill also has slight blemish. I gave it 4.5 out of 5 in detail, 3 out of 5 in quality control and 3.0 out of 5 for playable. Of course as with this kind of detail, caution in handling is required.
